Description

BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, and KPV are research peptides frequently studied (and often stacked) for tissue repair, wound healing, anti-inflammatory effects, and regeneration. None are FDA-approved for these uses; evidence is primarily preclinical (animal and cell studies), with limited human data.

Individual descriptions

  • BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157): A synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide derived from a gastric protein. It promotes angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation via VEGFR2/NO pathways), fibroblast activity, collagen synthesis, and cytoprotection. Strongest preclinical data for tendon/ligament, muscle, and gut mucosal healing; stable in gastric juice and often used orally or injected.
  • TB-500 (synthetic fragment of Thymosin Beta-4): A short peptide that sequesters G-actin, facilitating cell migration, cytoskeletal reorganization, angiogenesis, and tissue remodeling. It supports systemic repair (muscle, connective tissue, wounds) more than purely local effects and has some human data for the parent molecule in cardiac contexts.
  • GHK-Cu (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine complexed with copper): A naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide. It delivers copper for collagen/elastin cross-linking, modulates gene expression (thousands of genes toward regenerative patterns), regulates matrix metalloproteinases, stimulates collagen synthesis, and has antioxidant/anti-inflammatory actions. Best-documented for skin remodeling, wound healing, and cosmetic applications (including topical use).
  • KPV (Lys-Pro-Val): A tripeptide from the C-terminus of α-MSH. It is taken up via the PepT1 transporter (especially in inflamed gut tissue) and inhibits NF-κB/MAPK signaling, strongly suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines. Primarily an anti-inflammatory agent with good oral potential; useful for gut inflammation, skin, and immune modulation.

Side-by-side comparison

Aspect BPC-157 TB-500 GHK-Cu KPV
Size / Type 15-aa synthetic peptide Short Tβ4 fragment Copper-complexed tripeptide α-MSH-derived tripeptide
Core action Angiogenesis + cytoprotection Cell migration + actin dynamics Collagen/matrix remodeling + gene modulation NF-κB anti-inflammatory
Best for Localized soft-tissue & gut repair Systemic recovery & cell movement Skin, collagen, wound quality Inflammation (esp. gut/skin)
Route preference Injectable or oral Injectable Injectable or topical Injectable or oral
Evidence strength Extensive animal data; minimal human RCTs Preclinical + limited parent-molecule human data Strongest human/cosmetic data among the four Preclinical (solid mechanistic data)
Complementary role Vascular supply & structural repair Cytoskeletal/systemic healing Extracellular matrix rebuilding Controls excess inflammation

Key takeaway: These peptides target different phases of healing and are often combined (e.g., “GLOW” = BPC-157 + TB-500 + GHK-Cu; “KLOW” adds KPV) because their mechanisms are complementary rather than redundant—BPC-157 and TB-500 drive repair and migration, GHK-Cu rebuilds matrix, and KPV dampens damaging inflammation. All remain investigational.
