Description
Epithalon (also spelled Epitalon or Epithalone) is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG). It was developed by Russian researcher Vladimir Khavinson as a synthetic analog of Epithalamin, a polypeptide extract from the pineal gland.
It is best known as a pineal gland bioregulator studied for potential anti-aging and geroprotective effects. Research (primarily from the originating group) suggests it can activate telomerase (via hTERT upregulation), support telomere maintenance, restore melatonin production, and influence gene expression through epigenetic mechanisms.
Epithalon is investigated mainly in the contexts of aging, cellular senescence, and neuroendocrine regulation. It remains a research compound and is not approved as a pharmaceutical drug in major regulatory jurisdictions such as the United States.
